A Focused Universe

U.S. Universe

Very few businesses meet our investment standards. Rarely are more than 40 companies included in our U.S. universe of portfolio companies.

Analyzing and appraising these companies, and a few prospective candidates, occupies the greater part of our team of investment professionals. And only about half of these corporate issues are actually held in clients' portfolios at any given time.

This is an exceptionally limited investment universe and a uniquely intense research effort by any standard.

What we do is the antithesis of index or more popular 'closet index' investing. It's costly, time consuming, but certainly worthwhile. Our process has stood the test of time and should continue to produce above average returns.

Global Universe

W.P. Stewart's Global universe contains approximately 100 of what our team considers the best companies in the world.

W.P. Stewart’s global investment team employs the same intense research process that has been so successful for our U.S. Equity strategy to find the highest quality companies with sustainable earnings growth among the tens of thousands of businesses in the world. From this group of 100 companies, only about one-third are purchased for clients’ portfolios at any given time.
